The WMOCA hosts seminars, workshops and courses throughout the year by artists and local professionals. Each guest presenter shares their unique style in their workshop and has a passion for teaching and their art. Below are current workshops that are being offered through the WMOCA.

Music Mondays

From his first strum to the stage spotlight, Jake’s guitar has been his saving grace. With 14 years of gigging and fronting the Wisco blues powerhouse BluezDriver, he’s bringing that energy and heart to 2nd Monday Open Mic on June 9th as our Music Mondays host! Whether you're a seasoned player or just finding your rhythm, Jake’s mission is to make space for every voice to be heard. Painting Workshop with David Anthony Hummer

The WMOCA now hosts Painting Workshops as well as guest artists from time to time. Whether you can or can’t draw a stick person these workshops are for beginners to advanced painters age 12 and older. Students will learn how to mix color and accurately identify through photo references, how to apply paint and build a successful oil painting in a realistic manner. No experience necessary!!! Hummer will walk you through the process one step at a time.

Classes are limited to 8 students per class so you receive lots of one on one time with instructor David Anthony Hummer. David is an international award-winning artist and founder of the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art.

Tuesday morning 9-12, beginning the first Tuesday of each month unless there’s a holiday.

Registration Agreement
All materials required to produce an oil painting on canvas are included in the price of registering including the instruction of painter David Anthony Hummer. Each workshop offered consists of 4, three-hour classes meeting once per week.

Terms and Conditions
1. Registration.
Please fill in the form below. Payment is due in person on the first class. Cash or Checks or Venmo accepted.

2. Attendance.
It is essential for students to participate in each of the classes paid for in the class time(s) they enrolled in. Hummer is under no obligation to make up a class missed by a student. 

3. Property Damage and Theft.
WMOCA and Hummer are not responsible for damage or theft of any student’s personal property or paintings. 

4. Storage.
Hummer will allow students to store their paintings at the studio for a period of not more than 30 days from the last day of any workshop. This is a privilege extended to students enrolled, to ensure time for their painting to dry, at least to the touch, before transporting. Paintings not removed or claimed after the 30-day period will become the property of Hummer unless prior arrangements have been made and agreed to.

5. Copyrights and Usage.
Hummer reserves the right to use photographs of students work, finished or in progress, for promotional purposes at its discretion at no cost to Hummer.

6. Termination.
Hummer may terminate a student’s enrollment in a workshop for any reason. Fee is nonrefundable. 

7. Materials Included in Registration Fee.
One-Double Oil Primed Canvas, Stretched. Any student requesting or requiring a canvas size other than the canvas included will be charged a minimum of $50.00 for a custom size at which time a quote will be provided, agreed upon and paid in full with Registration Fee. The following materials, owned by Hummer are provided for use directly pertaining to the painting being made in the workshop; One Color Photographic Print for Painting Reference, (if additional prints are required by student, there will be an additional charge of $5.00 per print), Oil Paint, Linseed Oil, Mineral Spirits/Gamsol, Palette Knives, Pencils, Pens, Rulers, Yard Sticks, Pencil Sharpener, Paper Towel, Palette, Easel, Tables, Lighting, Clear Plastic Sleeves, Brush Washer Container, Imprimatura Brushes, Trash Bins, and View Finders. Brushes are provided but remain property of Hummer.

8. Instructor.
David Anthony Hummer reserves the right from time to time, without notice or reason, to substitute the Instructor with an Instructor of his choice for any class in any workshop period.
