Education & Events
At WMOCA, learning happens hands-on. Our workshops and classes are led by accomplished artists and craftspeople who bring real studio experience into every session, offering visitors of all skill levels a chance to explore new mediums, sharpen their technique, and connect directly with the creative process. Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or deepening a lifelong practice, our programs are designed to make contemporary art something you don't just view — but make.
Our registration fees are set with fair compensation for our educators in mind. The artists and craftspeople who lead these classes bring years of skill and expertise, and we believe they should be paid accordingly for sharing it. WMOCA retains only a small portion of each fee, just enough to cover the studio space, materials support, and staff time needed to keep these programs running — the rest goes directly to the instructors who make them possible.

Deb Maccagnano- “NYC Crosswalk and the Light”
Bring your vision to life in this oil painting workshop led by instructor Kara Lasiewicz. Choose your own creative path — paint a portrait, still life, or landscape using a personal photo, a predetermined still life set-up, or photos provided at the workshop. With individualized guidance every step of the way, students will build new skills and discover their own artistic voice.
All materials are provided, including canvas or panel, paints, brushes, palette knives, and Gamsol (odorless mineral spirits).

Kara Lasiewicz - “Humans Being”
Epoxy Workshop
Teen, Adult
Create your own one-of-a-kind wood and epoxy coaster in this hands-on workshop led by instructor Beau Lasiewicz. Choose your wood and up to three mica powder colors to mix into your epoxy, with one one one guidance through every step — from a short lecture on epoxy basics to mixing, pouring, and troubleshooting tips along the way; making this workshop ideal for beginners and experienced crafters alike. This project requires curing time and after-hours finishing, so pickup is scheduled two weeks after your workshop. When you return to pick up your piece we'll show you how to apply mineral oil to reveal the natural beauty of the wood and epoxy colors.
All materials are provided, including your choice of wood, epoxy, and mica powder colors.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
