Color can make a painting sing, or turn it to mud. In this hands-on class, artist Deb Maccagnano covers the essentials of color theory and how to use them in your own work.
You’ll explore the color wheel, mixing, value and temperature, and how to build color harmonies that set the mood of a piece. Through guided exercises, you’ll learn to mix cleaner, more intentional color and leave with reference charts you can use in your studio for years to come.
All materials are provided, so just bring your curiosity. Class is limited to 10 participants, so each student gets individual attention.

Join us for a hands-on wood and epoxy resin coaster workshop, led by artist Beau Lasiewicz.
You'll choose your own wood and up to three mica powder colors, then work one-on-one with Beau through every step, from a short lecture on epoxy basics to mixing, pouring, and troubleshooting along the way. No experience needed; the personalized guidance makes this workshop just as good a fit for first-timers as for experienced crafters. Since the piece needs time to cure, you'll return about two weeks later to pick it up, and Beau will show you how to apply mineral oil to bring out the natural beauty of the wood and epoxy.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Choose one Tuesday session, 4:00 to 5:30 pm. All materials are included.
Trade your brush for a palette knife in this single-evening oil painting workshop with local artist Deb Maccagnano. Using a palette knife to spread, scrape, and layer oil paint, you’ll build bold texture and rich, vibrant color that a brush simply can’t create. It’s a freeing, expressive way to paint, and a great way to loosen up, try something new, and leave with a finished piece.
No experience is needed. Deb will guide you step by step and work with each student individually. Choose the Thursday that works for you.
Each session runs 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
All materials are included.
Class size is limited to 10.

Join award-winning painter Stephen Wysocki for two days of oil painting one of Wisconsin’s most iconic subjects: the barn. Stephen is known for his vivid color and his strong record on the plein air competition circuit. His paintings center on ordinary scenes and structures, finding hard-edge contrasts in light and shadow and showing everyday places in a new way.
In this two-day workshop, you’ll learn how Stephen uses color to set atmosphere and mood. He believes color alone can carry the feeling of a painting. He plays warm tones against cool ones, and he keeps his color clean while leaving out unnecessary detail. Working from reference images in the warmth of the studio, you’ll explore simplified shapes, bold value contrast, and expressive color to create barnscapes full of character.
This workshop is designed for intermediate painters who are comfortable with the basics of oil painting and ready to push their use of color. Class is limited to 10 participants, so each painter gets individual attention.

Yoga and art share more than one might expect.
Both are less about performance and more about process: a quiet unfolding of attention, awareness, and personal truth. Each invites focused presence that steadies the mind and opens a path to self-exploration, and in both, change happens gradually, through release and observation rather than force.
The Art of Zen is a weekly yoga class in the gallery, led by a rotating group of qualified, compassionate, and grounded teachers. Classes are thoughtfully paced and welcoming to a wide range of participants.
The museum is open to participants for up to an hour before and after class, so you can settle in, reflect, and explore the artwork as an extension of your practice.
